Bibles: Many choices—browse! My current top pick: The ESV Study Bible by Zondervan (English Standard Version; student version available). Start with the New Testament, e.g. the Book of John.

For everyday language and/or reading through the Bible in a year, try The One-Year Chronological Bible by Tyndale (New Living Translation). Also check out the companion journal, Establishing a Heart for God (order through www.devotedtotheking.org), and find a reading partner or start a group. Also in the New Living Translation is The Recovery Bible used by Celebrate Recovery groups nationwide.

Dating: Check out titles such as: And The Bride Wore White (Gresh), Before You Meet Prince Charming (Mally), When God Writes Your Love Story (Ludy & Ludy), A Young Woman After God’s Own Heart (George), Lies Young Women Believe (Wolgemuth & Gresh), and Uninvited (TerKeurst). Check out www.bethsteury.com for her indie-published Choices Matter novel, Before I Knew You, and two books based on her “Waiting Matters … Because YOU Matter” blog. (Disclaimer: I have not read all of the above, and according to online reviews, some are not for young teens.)

Teens: See Bible studies, some based on movies.

Apologetics: Some amazing books here defend the faith; our church gives out copies of More Than a Carpenter (Josh McDowell) and The Case for Christ (Lee Strobel). Also check out Tim Keller, Ravi Zacharias, RJ Berry…

Abortion: Find Bible studies on healing after abortion, as well as books by those who have quit the abortion industry. (Try to get a group or friend to do the studies with.)
